ScanSnap Issue Troubleshooting
This article provides troubleshooting steps for resolving common ScanSnap scanning issues.
Symptoms:
ScanSnap scanner will not scan
ScanSnap icon is missing from the system tray
Computer does not detect the scanner
Scanner shows as not connected
ScanSnap software is not running
Troubleshooting Steps:
Verify that the ScanSnap software is running
a. Before attempting to scan, make sure the ScanSnap Manager/Home software is running.
b. Confirm that the ScanSnap app icon appears in the system tray.
Launch the ScanSnap application if the icon is missing
a. If the ScanSnap icon does not appear in the system tray, open the Windows Start menu.
b. Locate either ScanSnap Manager or ScanSnap Home.
c. Select the application to launch it.
d. After launching the application, try scanning again.
Check whether the scanner is detected by Windows
a. If you are still unable to scan, open the Windows Settings app.
b. Go to Devices.
c. Select Printers & scanners.
d. Check whether the ScanSnap scanner is listed on the computer.
Reconnect the scanner if it shows as not connected
a. If the scanner shows Not connected, disconnect the USB cable from the scanner.
b. Wait a few seconds, then reconnect the cable and try scanning again.
c. If the issue continues, disconnect the USB cable from the computer instead.
d. Restart the computer.
e. While the computer is restarting, plug the scanner back in and attempt to scan again.
Submit a Service Desk ticket if the issue continues
a. If the scanner is still not working, submit a ticket to the Service Desk at help.responsiveed.com.
b. Include the computer name, IP address, and ScanSnap model in the ticket.
