Google Drive Application Troubleshooting
This article provides troubleshooting steps for resolving issues when the Google Drive application is not running or does not appear in File Explorer.
Symptoms:
- Google Drive is not showing in File Explorer
- Google Drive icon is missing from the system tray
- Google Drive application is not running
- User cannot access Google Drive files from the computer
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Restart the computer
a. Restart the computer.
b. This will force the Google Drive application to start automatically once the user logs in. - Check whether Google Drive is running
a. Check the Windows system tray for the Google Drive icon.
b. If the icon is not present, the Google Drive application is not currently running.

- Launch Google Drive from the Start menu
a. Perform a Windows search for Google Drive.
b. Open the Google Drive application from the Start menu.
c. After launching the application, Google Drive should appear within Windows File Explorer.

- Contact Service Desk if the issue continues
a. If the issue continues after performing the steps above, contact the RES Service Desk for further assistance.
